Black Prom
the project is entitled BLACK PROM and is loosely based on this quote: "What does it mean for people who have been seen as systematically powerless to employ the tool of dress as a way to perform their value?" I'm exploring this quote through the extravagance of Prom for Black people and the meaning behind a night that typically requires great financial sacrifice. To what extent is Black Prom performance of dignity and ownership of humanity?

Dancehall Queen: Dread and Terrible
the most iconic time in history was 90s Dancehall. From music to fashion, to events, the impact that period had on local Caribbean culture and the global community is still visible today. The influence lives on in the beats of producers, the lyrics of pop and rap superstars, and in the fashion choices of moguls all over the world. To pay homage to the period, I built a Jamaican mini-nightclub set to reenact and celebrate Dancehall at its finest.
